  • Céline Larigaldie | Guide | Bilingual Ceremony | France

Writing a bilingual wedding ceremony text can be tricky for the bride and groom! This Guide helps the couple and their celebrant create a tailor-made ceremony Bespoke bilingual & multilingual wedding ceremony In French, English, German… and more Would you like to celebrate your wedding in two or more languages? I support international couples in creating bilingual, fluid and deeply personal ceremonies, in France and abroad. Discover bilingual ceremonies As a bilingual celebrant, I conduct weddings in French, English and German (and sometimes Italian, Spanish or Portuguese), ensuring a balance of languages, emotion, and guest understanding. Key Information ✦ A guide designed for multilingual couples: French, English, German… or more. ✦ Practical advice to build a smooth, multilingual ceremony, without translating everything. ✦ Writing and delivery techniques to include vows, speeches, rituals, and cultural references from both partners. ✦ Step-by-step support for both officiants and couples, with adaptable ideas for every situation. ✦ Available as a free PDF on request, or as a paperback via Amazon.fr How Can You Design Your Bilingual Symbolic Ceremony? You dream of celebrating your love in a multilingual wedding ceremony. What a wonderful perspective, but also what a muddle! To help you make sense of it all and help you create your ceremony, I've written a clear and concise book, the Guide pour Créer une Cérémonie Bilingue . Download our guide to help you design your symbolic ceremony. A Book on Languages and Weddings If you live in a world where several languages are spoken, you'll probably want to incorporate them into your ceremony, without necessarily translating everything. Your love's language is French, but your native language is German... You speak English to each other, but you are Chinese and he is Spanish... You are of Italian origin and live in a French-speaking environment... How do you write the text of your ceremony to give each language its place, but also each culture? My aim in writing this book was to offer all multilingual couples ideas and food for thought on how to create a ceremony that suits them. There are no ready-made solutions, just suggestions and techniques for preparing, creating and celebrating a non-religious ceremony in several languages. Making Languages an Integral Part of Your Wedding Celebration There are several ways of creating a harmonious and lively ceremony by switching from one language to another. Translating the ceremony may be one option, but there are others, which I invite you to discover in this booklet, designed not only to provide you with valuable writing techniques, but also to guide you through the process of thinking about your own secular ceremony. Your Love Story, Your Ceremony – Book a Free Call in One Click! A Few Tips for Writing and Expressing Your Commitment in Several Languages I deal with both personal and technical issues in the simplest way possible, to help you make your own choices. The topics covered include the general outline of your ceremony, as well as the booklet, speeches, vows and symbolic rituals. More than a book of help or advice, this is a guide for the celebrant and/or the bride and groom who are starting to write a bi- or trilingual ceremony. Christelle Lacour , a talented photographer I met at a bilingual wedding, has selected some of her photos to illustrate this guide. The Guide pour créer une Cérémonie de Mariage Bilingue in pdf or paper format You can find a paper version of the guide on the Amazon.fr website . • Céline Larigaldie | Your wedding ceremony | Food for thought

For a ceremony to reflect the couple’s wishes, every detail matters: the venue, symbols and rituals, texts, and speeches that make their wedding truly unique. How to Design Your Ceremony Imagine and Create Your Own Storyline Tips on Writing Your Ceremony To begin with, don't forget that your ceremony will be a moment of intense emotion, THE day on which you will show your commitment to your partner, to everyone around you, but also to yourself. Don't hesitate to put all the love and tenderness you feel for each other into this ceremony. Your guests are there to share your joy and happiness; you'll be more discreet another time! First of all, think about the values that bind you to each other, the reasons that led you to embark on this magnificent shared adventure that is marriage. You can also look back at all the important moments that underpinned your love, all the memorable details, the little and big stories that led you to the mayor's office! Think about the people who played a role in forging your relationship: perhaps you'd like to include them in your celebrations? Download our guide to help you design your symbolic ceremony. Key Information - Design Your Ceremony ✦ A tailor-made ceremony: guided by your values, memories, and unique story. ✦ A structure that reflects you: vows, music, rituals, readings… each part shaped by your choices. ✦ Loved ones involved your way: readings, songs, symbolic gestures — you choose who takes part. ✦ Personal, heartfelt vows: written together or individually, spoken aloud or shared quietly. ✦ Support if needed: an officiant can help structure and express your commitment. Photo Christelle Lacour Imagine Your Ceremony Creating Your Wedding Ceremony, Step by Step Now you can plan the highlights of your ceremony: the exchange of vows, the exchange of wedding rings or other more original items of jewellery, even the presentation of your wedding tattoos, and so on. Choose from the long list of rituals and symbols those that mean something to you, those that could add something extra to your ceremony. But choose them sparingly - too much ritual kills the ritual! Now it's time to choose your participants: will you have witnesses? Bridesmaids? Do you want to invite family members or friends to read or sing? If you decide to exchange wedding rings, who will bring them? Finally, you can think about the texts that will enhance your ceremony: choose them according to the emotions they evoke in you, but also according to their length. Finally, make your choice of music . There is a wide range of music to choose from, depending on your style, to accompany each part of the ceremony: your arrival and departure from the ceremony venue, but also certain high points. Perhaps you'll opt for a live orchestra or just a couple of guitar tunes? How Should You Write Your Vows? Once again, no formalities are imposed: you have complete freedom! You can decide that the two of you will say the same words to express your commitment to each other. Or you can each choose to write your own personal words of love and offer them to your loved one on the big day, either in person or in the form of a secret letter, which each of you will read face to face in silence in front of the procession of guests. Whatever form this exchange of vows takes, it's one of the key moments of your wedding ceremony, and one that deserves a very special place in your preparations. Of course, you can draw inspiration from examples found on the web, but you can also allow your inspiration to flow freely and take the time to write down the most beautiful words that your love inspires in you. What does he/she mean to you? Why have you chosen him/her? What commitment do you want to make through this marriage? And a thousand and one other questions you can ask yourself to declare your love! What If Drafting Your Ceremony Proves Tricky? If you're still finding it difficult to write your ceremony, or if you'd like some guidance, don't hesitate to call on the services of a celebrant, who will be able to brainstorm with you. Together, you'll find the right words to express your emotions and sort out all those thoughts and anecdotes that you want to share with your guests, but don't always know where to start! To begin with, Myriam, Alex, let's go back in time, two years back, to remember how you met. Two exceptional souls with an unconventional journey. • How to Write Your Wedding Vows – Advice & Inspiration

Need help writing your wedding vows? Discover simple methods, practical advice, and inspiring examples to find the perfect words for your big day. Write Your Wedding Vows: Find the Right Words for a Memorable Moment Why Write Your Wedding Vows? Wedding vows are not just a tradition; they are the heart of your commitment. Thoughtfully written, they create a deeply emotional moment for you, your partner, and your guests. A unique moment – The only time during your wedding when you speak directly to your partner in front of your loved ones. A precious memory – These words will stay with you and your partner forever. A sincere commitment – Your vows reflect your love and vision for the future. Your wedding vows are a unique moment where emotions take center stage Key Information - Wedding Vows ✦ Your vows are the heart of your commitment: one of the most emotional and personal moments of your ceremony . ✦ Take your time to write them: let your thoughts mature, capture your emotions, and shape your words over time. ✦ Draw from your story: memories, daily life, shared dreams, promises — they give meaning to your words. ✦ Forget perfection: don’t aim for a literary masterpiece — your vows should simply sound like you. ✦ Alternative options if you feel shy: read your vows together, in private, pre-recorded, or have your officiant read them. ✦ Guidance is available: personalised writing workshops can help you find the right words, alone, as a couple, or in a group. 6 Steps to Writing Your Wedding Vows Let inspiration flow by writing your vows in a quiet and meaningful setting. 1. Take Your Time: Let Your Ideas Flow Naturally Writing your wedding vows doesn’t happen all at once. It’s a process that requires reflection and a bit of patience. Give yourself time to think about what you want to express, without putting pressure on yourself. Start by jotting down raw ideas, memories, or emotions as they come to you, even weeks before the big day. There’s no need to write everything in one go. On the contrary, writing in stages helps you better structure your thoughts and refine your words. You can, for example, keep a notebook handy or use a note-taking app on your phone to capture a phrase or an idea as soon as it comes to mind. Inspiration often strikes at the most unexpected moments —while listening to a song, looking at a photo, or even talking with your partner. Then, let your text sit for a few days and revisit it with fresh eyes. Reading it again will allow you to adjust the tone, simplify certain sentences, or enrich your vows with more precise details. By taking your time, you avoid last-minute stress and ensure that your vows truly reflect your love and commitment. 2. Find Inspiration in Your Love Story To clarify your thoughts, ask yourself these questions: Your first meeting – How did you know they were "the one"? Your daily life together – What does your partner bring to your life? Your future – How do you see your life together in 10, 20, or 50 years? Your promises – What values will you always uphold in your relationship? 3. Forget Perfection, Write from the Heart Your vows don’t have to sound like poetry. They should be personal, using words that feel natural to you. Imagine you’re speaking directly to your partner. 4. Structure Your Vows for a Natural Flow Here’s a suggested outline you can adapt: ➺ Introduction: A memorable moment, a strong statement, or an anecdote. ➺ Main section: What your partner means to you and why you love them. ➺ Promises: What you vow to share and commit to throughout your life together. ➺ Conclusion: A powerful closing sentence to end your vows with emotion. Organize your thoughts to create meaningful and structured vows. 5. Add a Touch of Humor (If It Feels Right) Include a lighthearted promise to balance the emotion: ➺ "I promise to always have a secret stash of chocolate just for you." ➺ "I promise to laugh at your jokes, even the bad ones." Practice Reading Your Vows Aloud What looks good on paper doesn’t always sound natural when spoken. Practice reading your vows out loud several times—maybe even in front of a friend—to adjust the rhythm and identify any overly long or awkward sections. Need help writing your vows? Photo Mélanie Lagavardan Examples & Inspiration Here are some sentence starters to help you begin: ➺ "When I first met you, I never imagined that..." ➺ "With you, I have discovered..." ➺ "You are the person who..." ➺ "I promise to always..." ➺ "In 10 years, I picture us..." Nervous About Speaking in Public? Not everyone feels comfortable speaking in front of an audience. If the thought of reading your vows out loud makes you nervous, don’t worry—there are several alternatives to help you experience this moment with confidence. ◆ Interwoven Promises → A great option is to take turns making short promises. One of you might start with "I promise to always be there for you," and the other follows with "And I promise to make you laugh even on the hardest days." This approach lightens the speech and creates a natural, interactive flow. ◆ Private Vows → If the emotions feel overwhelming, why not share your vows in private before or after the ceremony? This allows you to express your words sincerely, without the pressure of an audience. ◆ Having the Officiant Read for You → You can ask your officiant to read your vows on your behalf while still preserving the full emotional impact of your words. ◆ Pre-Recorded Vows → A unique alternative is to record your vows in advance and have them played during the ceremony. This ensures control over your delivery while still creating a powerful moment. ◆ Letter Exchange → If public speaking isn't for you, a deeply romantic option is to write letters to each other, to be opened right after the ceremony or on a special occasion. The most important thing is that your vows are sincere and truly reflect who you are. There are no strict rules—just what feels right for you! Need Help Writing Your Vows? If you’d like support in structuring your ideas, crafting meaningful vows, or improving your delivery, I offer personalized vow-writing workshops tailored to your needs: ◆ One-on-One Workshop → Personalized guidance to help you write fluent and heartfelt vows. ◆ Couples' Workshop → A shared moment of inspiration before writing your vows separately. ◆ Small Group Workshop → A supportive and creative space to write vows with guidance and encouragement. ❧ Discover the workshops here: With a vow-writing workshop, receive expert guidance to craft vows that truly reflect your love. As a secular wedding officiant, Céline Larigaldie tailors your ceremony to your wedding theme – here 4 elements – customizing both the texts and her attire. Four Elements Wedding Inspiration | Shooting at Château de Lacoste in Lupiac | Published on the blog La Mariée Enjouée Earth, water, air and fire, four elements for the crystal ritual Giovanni and Audrey fell in love at first sight. They discovered each other in the heat and passion of the moment, overwhelmed by the essence of their relationship from the very first moment, the mad love that inhabits them and binds them together, propelling them forward and enabling them to overcome every challenge and every constraint together. To symbolise the union of their two lives , they mixed glass crystals in a stone bowl. Each colour was chosen to represent the personality and life story of each of them, with the gold crystals representing their relationship and their love. And to magnify this symbolic union of their two lives even further, the glass crystals were set alight in flames and blown into a glass pearl, both beautiful and fragile, which they will pamper to keep intact and luminous, like their love. A ceremony in French , or one that transcends borders for multicultural couples — so many beautiful ways to celebrate love in every language… "Rencontre étonnante de deux êtres aux parcours si différents, que la vie a comme scellés du jour au lendemain. *As this address indicates, I live in Lot-et-Garonne in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, on the border between Landes and Gironde, close to Gers, Tarn-et-Garonne and Haute-Garonne in the Occitanie region.  Toulouse, Bordeaux, Auch and Agen are the nearest towns.
